Like most countries I visit, I chose Peru on a whim. That’s usually how I travel, to make sure I’m following my heart and not overthinking. But this place challenged me more than I expected. The shift from warm, easy days to the chill of 11,000 feet above sea level mirrored everything I went through while I was there. Even the beach town I ended in had its own lessons. Still, the landscapes and what they pulled out of me made it worth it. Peru reminded me what it feels like to exist in something bigger than myself, where nature, challenge, and stillness all converge.
